Media Selection Guide

CELLnTEC media are designed to mimic specific in vivo micro-environments as closely as possible. In this way, they are able to increase the accuracy with which either undifferentiated or differentiated cells model their in vivo behavior.

As a result of their tailored formulations, our media fall into four groups:

1. PCT Media (Defined): Progenitor Cell Targeted media are specifically designed for the requirements of undifferentiated progenitor cells. These media are ideally suited for isolation and extended proliferation of undifferentiated cells. They are fully defined, offering complete knowledge and control of the environment used during experimentation.
2. PCT Media (Low-BPE): Progenitor Cell Targeted media including a low concentration of BPE (typically 5 to 8 x lower than traditional media). Offered for tissues where the addition of a small amount of BPE was found to improve either cell attachment or proliferation during isolation and early passages.
3. Non-PCT Media (2D): Media formulations which do not contain PCT factors to retain undifferentiated cells. Suited for all situations where cells are induced to differentiate, for example with the addition of calcium. They are fully defined, offering complete knowledge and control of the environment used during experimentation.
4. Non-PCT Media (3D): Media which can be used for the establishment of stratified, 3D cell cultures in combination with the appropriate protocol. Full protocols can be found in the resources section of this website.
