CELLnTEC provides both HDF primary dermal fibroblasts (isoated from foreskin), and progenitor cell rich HDP cultures (isolated from dermal papilla).
HDF Dermal Fibroblasts
Isolated in our specialized PCT culture medium CnT-05 from neonatal foreskin, HDF cultures provide maximum cell growth and extended in vitro longevity.
All CELLnTEC primary cells are supplied as a kit, with a 500 mL bottle of the appropriate culture medium (basal medium with frozen supplements). In addition, HDF kits are available in two sizes, either 1 vial of > 5 x 105 viable cells, or alternatively 3 vials of > 5 x 105 viable cells.
HDP Dermal Progenitors
HDP cells are isolated from the dermal papilla using CnT-05 culture medium. The dermal papilla has been proposed as a rich source of dermal progenitor cells, in particular Sox-2 positive cells that demonstrate several dermal stem cell functions such as dermal reconsitution and hair follicle induction (see Biernaskie et al. Cell Stem Cell 2009).
HDP cells can be grown as a 2D monolayer, or as a 3D culture. When switched to 3D non-adherent culture (for example in hanging-drops) in CnT-DP-3D medium, HDP cells form Sox-2 expressing spheres. Spheres can be routinely established in hanging drop cultures using a varitey of methods - please see our protocols page for more details.
