Epidermal 3D Culture - Marker Expression and Lipid Profile
Marker Expression
In combination with our recommended protocol and primary human keratinocytes growing in a PCT medium, 3D media can be used to establish stratified, fully differentiated models which closely mimic the in vivo situation.
The in vitro skin models created with CELLnTEC's 3D Prime Medium establish all the strata of the epidermis and express a range of proliferation and differentiation markers.

Lipid Profile, established using two solvents (A & B) to compare extract different lipid species. Profiles of the 3D model and biopsy were very similar for both solvents. 1: Sphingomyelin. 2: Lactosylceramide. 3A: Phosphatidylcholine. 3B: Gkucosylceramide. 4: Phosphatidylethanolamine. |
Lipid Profile
Further, these skin models show very similar lipid profiles when compared to skin biopsy. Two different solvent extractions were performed to target different lipid families (see results on the right).
